A guide to
Silver Star Mountain Resort.

Useful things to know about the mountain, the village and the valley before you visit.

Silver Star sits 22 km northeast of Vernon, in the North Okanagan, at 1,609 metres of elevation. It's a year-round mountain resort with a brightly painted Victorian-era village at the base, ski-in/ski-out lodging throughout, a top-tier bike park in summer, and 130+ named ski runs in winter.

For up-to-date lift hours, ticket prices and resort-run programs, the official site is skisilverstar.com. Everything below is what we tell our friends when they ask about the area.

Bike Park

Silver Star runs one of Canada's top-rated lift-served downhill bike parks, with terrain for absolute beginners through expert. A 70+ km cross-country network connects to it for the enduro and XC crowd. Lift typically opens late June and runs through to early September.

Hiking & Sightseeing

16 km of marked hiking and trail-running paths radiate out from the village. The summer Gondola lifts non-bikers to the alpine for the views. The Gnome Roam (a hidden-gnome scavenger hunt for kids) and the seasonal Wildflower Walk run all summer.

Down at the lake

Kalamalka Lake (the “lake of many colours”) is a 25-minute drive down the hill, in Coldstream. Provincial park beach, swimming, paddleboarding. A genuine Okanagan summer destination.

Vernon & the Okanagan

Vernon is 22 km below the resort. Full grocery (Save-On, Loblaws), wineries, farm stands, restaurants. Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is about 50 minutes south. The valley produces some of Canada's best stone fruit and wine.
